About Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient healing technique that has been a part of Traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years. It works by stimulating the body’s production of Qi, which is the term used to describe the flow of energy throughout the body. The insertion of thin, sterile needles at specific points in the body, can help address imbalances and blockages of the Qi, which can be the contributing cause to physical or emotional discomfort.

We can target certain organs based on your symptoms, and from doing an analysis of your tongue and pulse. Patients have found acupuncture to be quite beneficial for headaches, hormonal regulation, digestive concerns, chronic pain, fatigue and mood support.

Your treatment plan will be tailored to your unique needs and goals, and it’s essential to communicate openly with your naturopathic doctor about any questions or concerns you may have. Acupuncture is a safe and effective approach that can complement your overall health and wellness journey.

Does it hurt?

Receiving acupuncture is nothing like getting poked by the needles when getting a flu shot or doing a blood draw. The needles are quite thin and almost unseeable to the naked eye. The needles are inserted gently, which allows for them to glide smoothly and effortlessly into the skin. Many of the points are quite painless, however, some spots are more sensitive than others. The specific points chosen will depend on your concerns and the diagnosis provided.
